‘Very Few Characters Are Safe’: Criminal Minds: Evolution Actor Hints Character Could Get Killed Off This Season

Criminal Minds: Evolution newcomer Aimee Garcia spoke about whether she will return for Season 4 and also warned viewers of more deaths this season.

Garcia, known for her role as Dr. Julia Ochoa, will be returning for Season 4 of Criminal Minds: Evolution. In an interview with ScreenRant, Garcia expressed an interest in returning to the show, provided her character survives.

Garcia stated in the interview, “I would like nothing more than to come back as long as they will have me, as very few characters are safe on the show. So I go through the script very quickly to see if we’ve seen the last of [her]. I don’t want to give away any spoilers, but if I were to stay alive this season, and that’s a big ‘if’ – it is Criminal Minds – I would love for her just to be another asset to the team in whatever capacity. So from your lips to bosses’ ears!”

Season 3 introduced Dr. Julia Ochoa as a neuropsychiatrist who helps patients through traumatic brain injuries. In a previous interview, Garcia would also warn viewers to “trust no one.” She goes on to say, “Is she the good doctor? Does she have an ulterior motive? Does she have a superior interest [in Lucas] Voit besides ‘do no harm’ and to keep him healthy? I don’t know. But I would say with a show like Criminal Minds, everything is on the table… I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.”

Season 3’s Shocking Moments

Garcia’s warning that “very few characters are safe” has already proven itself to be true. Criminal Minds: Evolution has had more than its fair share of truly shocking moments for the franchise. Season 3 of Evolution also serves as the 18th season of Criminal Minds overall. Eighteen years after his introduction in the original series, Josh Stewart’s Detective Will LaMontagne was killed off in one of its more recent episodes.

Paget Brewster, known for her role as BAU Chief Emily Prentiss, was also taken aback by Stewart’s departure from the show. She stated, “We were saying goodbye to Will, and we were saying goodbye to Josh Stewart, who’s played Will for what, maybe 17 years?” She continues, “It’s always shocking, but it’s always exciting too, even if it’s bad news. We know, as actors, that we and our crew and our writers can come together and make it happen, even if it’s difficult. So we’re just very lucky that our writers are working so hard.”
