Tyler Perry’s The Oval | Season 6 Episode 5 Review: Something To Hide

I have to say, with each episode on Tuesday or Wednesday (depending on when I have time to watch), I get more and more drawn into the storyline. Honestly, even if this season turns out to be a “disaster” in the end, I wouldn’t be too surprised. But for now, I’m still quite enjoying what’s happening.

However, I do have some concerns. Looking back at Season 5, when the show approached its 100th episode—right before the midseason break—things started to fall apart. Will Season 6 follow the same path? It’s too early to tell, but at least for now, it remains engaging.

I have to admit—without meaning to offend—but the female characters in this show are truly manipulative, vindictive, fake, and full of hatred. They are beautiful, the cast is talented, but personality-wise, they are hard to tolerate! Priscilla and Nancy are the two characters that irritate me the most. If I had to choose one woman on the show who hasn’t single-handedly destroyed her own relationship, it would probably be Lily. Even though she had an affair with Donald in the first episode, she was actually deceived into marrying a ruthless, controlling, and manipulative man. Everything Donald orchestrated—from the Bobby situation to other schemes—was designed to keep Lily under his control.

Meanwhile, Nancy cheated on Richard while he was away at war, and Priscilla neglected her husband’s needs, which led him to get involved with the First Lady. Honestly, the female characters in The Oval are incredibly difficult to sympathize with!

Episode Review: Season 6, Episode 5 – “Something to Hide”

Rating: 7/10

I deducted points because this episode played out exactly as expected. Hunter took his son, along with a few agents, down the White House tunnels, but we didn’t actually get to see what was inside. With all the suspense built up in the episode, nothing was ultimately revealed. Hopefully, in the next episode, we’ll finally find out what’s hidden beneath those tunnels.

Episode Summary

The episode begins with Nancy holding Clarence as he takes his final breaths, repeatedly blaming herself. With his last words, Clarence begs Nancy not to tell the police what his son did. Meanwhile, Dale—who had clearly been warned by Sam to leave earlier—still decides to stay, making the situation even more complicated.

Richard, furious upon learning what happened, confronts Dale to see if he knows anything. Amid the chaos, Nancy calls Sam for help. Despite dealing with his own issues with Priscilla—who has been destroying his belongings and even setting his clothes on fire—Sam immediately comes to assist. Priscilla, in her usual spiteful nature, deliberately tries to prevent Sam from entering the house, but Dale eventually lets him in.

When the police arrive to investigate, Priscilla intervenes and uses her authority to delay the official investigation, claiming that Richard is a White House employee and must be handled through a special process. Meanwhile, Nancy seems to be making increasingly bad decisions. She hands Richard’s credit card to Dale, asking him to buy alcohol, and even decides to go with him.

As for Dale, he doesn’t have many options. If he leaves the house, Kyle could come after him, and if Donald finds out, he could be eliminated. Dale is completely trapped between dangerous forces.

Meanwhile, at the White House, Kyle makes an appearance…
