Tyler Perry’s House of Payne | Who Will Be The Best Man At Calvin’s Wedding?
Now, notice in the episode or video title, I said who will be the best man at Calvin’s wedding. Notice I didn’t say Calvin and Laura’s wedding, because at this point, I have no earthly idea if Calvin is going to marry Laura, if he and Miranda are going to get remarried, or if someone else will just get married instead—like, let’s say Malik and Lisa. I don’t know, but the best man position has yet to be filled.
Considering that Laura always has all these get-togethers with the bridesmaids and her girls, she probably has her maid of honor and bridesmaids all assembled and ready. But we don’t know exactly who is going to be in the wedding.
In terms of the best man, I have four candidates and a wild card. I’ll go from probably the least likely to the most.
I think Malik is the least likely of the bunch. If nothing else, I could possibly see him as a groomsman, but I don’t think Malik is going to be Calvin’s best man.
Next, I think Peanut (or maybe Pooky—I’m probably mixing them up) is probably not likely. It’s not his fault, but remember, he was indirectly responsible for Laura leaving Calvin at the end of last season. She got on his laptop, assumed it was Calvin on the dating site when it was really Peanut, and she left. But remember, someone—maybe Miranda—told her to use the doorbell footage to clear his name.
So, I don’t think Peanut would be the best man, but he could definitely be a groomsman. Pooky is next—it’s a debate. Well, spoiler alert, I think CJ and Pooky are neck-and-neck for who would be the best man.
I think Pooky knows that Calvin was the best man at his wedding, and since he got married last season, I don’t think he’ll be Calvin’s best man. But, a groomsman? Definitely.
CJ, on the other hand, is probably the most likely. These two are like brothers. I know they’re related by blood, but they act more like brothers. If nothing else, I could definitely see him being the best man. But, someone I didn’t put in the picture was Curtis.
Unless I added him in, I don’t think Curtis would be the best man. Curtis would probably just be sitting in the front row, making snarky remarks like, “How many weddings is this, Calvin? Let’s hope y’all don’t get a divorce like you and Miranda did.”
But yeah, I don’t see him being the best man. CJ? He holds Calvin down and isn’t afraid to tell him the truth.
Here’s my wild card pick: I want to say that if Calvin doesn’t get married to Laura and instead gets married to Miranda, it would be nice if Junior was his best man.
Junior was the one who called out Calvin for playing two women, and Calvin got mad, but hey, from the mouth of a child. Their relationship has grown over this season and last, especially with Junior’s hot-headed temperament and disruptive attitude.
One way to showcase that these two are truly on the same page and have repaired their relationship as father and son would be for Junior to be the best man if Calvin marries Miranda. Christian could be like the ring bearer—I could be wrong about that.
But, yeah, I definitely see Junior being the best man if his dad gets remarried to Miranda. It would be a beautiful story beat because Junior told Calvin what he didn’t want to hear and unknowingly helped his dad realize his true feelings about who he really belongs with.
