*After multiple cancellations and just as many reprieves, CBS’ “S.W.A.T.” is officially coming to an end, for real this time.

The long-running police procedural starring Shemar Moore as Sergeant Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson will conclude with a two-part series finale airing Friday, May 16.

“To get canceled twice in a row and to get uncanceled twice in a row, I give kudos to me running my mouth on social media,” Moore told PEOPLE, crediting his online advocacy for helping revive the show in the past. “Nothing lasts forever, but I fight.”

Moore attempted to extend the show’s life beyond CBS, even pitching it to Netflix, though the streaming platform has not picked it up.

“The family over at S.W.A.T. — we ain’t done chasing bad guys,” Moore declared in a heartfelt Instagram message. “Helicopter chases and motorcycle chases and car chases and blowing up stuff… we ain’t done. But if you force us to be finished, we thank you.”

With “S.W.A.T.” officially wrapping up, Moore may now have space on his schedule to revisit old roles, particularly that of Special Agent Derek Morgan from “Criminal Minds.”

While Season 3 of “Criminal Minds: Evolution” (the show’s 18th overall) has already wrapped and premieres May 8 on Paramount+, Moore made it clear he’d be open to returning for future episodes.

“All I need is an invitation,” he told TV Insider. Reflecting on his career journey, Moore shared, “I’ve gone back to the soap opera that started my career three or four times. It started with The Young and the Restless, and then it was Criminal Minds. And that’s my evolution. Without The Young and the Restless, there’s no Criminal Minds. And without Criminal Minds, there’s no S.W.A.T. If they asked me to come visit, I would definitely do that.”
