Oliver Stark Teases “A Lot Of Clarity” For Buck & Tommy In Upcoming 9-1-1 Episode
Oliver Stark Teases “A Lot Of Clarity” For Buck & Tommy In Upcoming 9-1-1 Episode
9-1-1 star Oliver Stark has teased “a lot of clarity” surrounding the relationship between Buck (Stark) and Tommy (Lou Ferrigno Jr.) in an upcoming episode of season 8. 9-1-1 season 8 has shown Buck going through plenty of changes at Firehouse 118 after Vincent Gerrard (Brian Thompson) briefly became Captain of the station. This had resulted in plenty of friction as the show has focused on the team getting used to their new leader and the wild events unfolding therein. However, it’s also caused Buck and Tommy’s romance to be at the wayside for the first few episodes.
Speaking with Screen Rant, however, Stark teased 9-1-1 season 8, episode 5 will see Tommy return as he tries to help Buck through the difficulties he’s faced with the 118. The actor says his boyfriend will be “weirded out” by some of what he’s experienced so far. He also teased episode 6 will have a greater focus on the pair learning more about each other as their relationship deepens. Check out what Stark had to say below:
Yeah, [Tommy is] in Episode 5, a good amount, and is able to, I was going to say support Buck through some difficult times, but I don’t know if he’s always that helpful in this scenario. [Laughs] He’s a little bit weirded out by some things going on with Buck. And then in Episode 6, there’s a lot of clarity on where their relationship is at and a lot of truths learned about each other. I think it’s going to be a really great episode.
What Stark’s Statement Means For Buck & Tommy In 9-1-1 Season 8
The Pair Will Still Have Plenty Of Time Together

While he hasn’t appeared in a major capacity since 9-1-1 season 7 ended, Tommy remains an integral part of Buck’s life, with the pair continuing to have a steady relationship offscreen despite Gerrard’s return to the station. However, events at work have gotten stranger for the firefighter, as his Captain’s attempts to shut down the 118 in season 8, episode 4 resulted in Bobby Nash (Peter Krause) coming back as leader. Gerrard has been reduced to a technical advisor, but the events of his stint will likely continue to have ramifications for Buck.
Because of everything that’s happened at the firehouse since season 8 began, Stark’s statement indicates Buck will need help from Tommy to process everything he’s been through lately. Given that 9-1-1‘s intense disasters haven’t let up either, with the Bee-nado being an important part of the first few episodes, there will be plenty for the two to discuss. However, since episode 6 will reveal new truths they learn from one another, it sounds like their relationship is truly going to deepen within the next few weeks.
Our Take On Buck & Tommy’s Upcoming 9-1-1 Episodes
We’re Glad To See A Broader Focus On Their Relationship
Buck and Tommy haven’t had much time together in 9-1-1 season 8, only interacting in the premiere episode for a brief time. However, now that the storm of Gerrard’s leadership has seemingly passed, we think now is the perfect time to showcase a broader focus on their relationship. Episodes 5 and 6 can be used to more deeply explore their characters, compounded with a full season to work with this time around instead of the shortened season 7 their romance debuted in.
