Voyager 1, launched on September 5, 1977, was originally intended for a five-year mission to study the outer planets of our solar system. However, it has far exceeded expectations, continuing to transmit invaluable data nearly five decades later. Voyager 1 also carries a Golden Record—a time capsule designed to represent the diversity of life and culture on Earth. This Golden Record, which includes sounds, images, and music, serves as both a symbolic message of humanity’s desire to connect with other civilizations and a snapshot of life on Earth. Featuring greetings in 55 languages, along with natural Earth sounds and classical music, it embodies humanity’s curiosity and hope for contact with any potential intelligent beings beyond our planet.
