Maya Jama was reportedly set to leave her role as Love Island presenter next summer when the ITV2 show returns for another series – however, she has now shut down the rumours.

It was reported that one former Love Island and I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! star could be the one to replace her. Maya, 30, first joined the dating show in January 2023 when she took over from former host, Laura Whitmore.

At the time, the Bristol-born TV star gushed that all her dreams had come true after dreaming about being the host of Love Island for years. However, after fulfilling her lifelong goal, sources now claim that Maya is likely to walk from the show next summer.

The one to replace her was rumoured to be none other than 2019 Love Islander Maura Higgins.

The Irish bombshell, 34, who recently gained over one million Instagram followers after appearing on I’m A Celebrity, became a household name when she burst into the Love Island villa almost six years ago alongside Molly-Mae Hague and Amber Gill.

After impressing TV bosses with her incredible personality in the jungle, Maura is now reportedly the front-runner to take over from Maya. Maura has already been making waves in America as she presents Love Island USA: Aftersun – so TV bosses feel like she would be the perfect fit for the role.

A source told The Sun: “Maya adores hosting Love Island and thinks it’s a great fit for now. But she’s keen to leave on a high and keep her career moving forward on the right tracks. She is incredibly ambitious and would like to keep focusing on primetime presenting opportunities.

“She also has hopes of working in America and doesn’t want to be tied down. She has been building up her skills as a presenter and is very much part of the Love Island family.”

The insider added: “She also has the unique perspective of having appeared herself as a contestant. She’s just also had a successful stint on I’m A Celeb so the world is her oyster now.”

However, Maya quickly shut down the speculation on Sunday as she took to Instagram to set the record straight. On her Instagram stories, she wrote: ” “I will be hosting Love Island next year and have no plans to leave right now. Filmed the promo a couple days ago actually. Fake news is fake news-ing as usual.”

It comes after Maya raked in £2.5m last year as one of the UK’s most in-demand TV presenters. The host of ITV’s Love Island and spin-off Love Island Games, she also hosted the BRIT Awards and Comic Relief this year.

She landed another huge TV job after last month being announced on the next series of The Masked Singer. Maya also makes a fortune from lucrative ad jobs and has appeared in commercials for a number of brands, including McDonald’s, Rimmel London, and Dolce Gabbana.
