Love Island’s Ron Hall choosing to couple up with Kaz was a cop out – All Stars needs a shake-up to inject extra spice
Last night, a recoupling gave bombshells Ron Hall and Grace Jackson all the power – and they helped secure their place in the villa by taking the easy option.
Despite Ron’s obvious chemistry with Gabby Allen and Grace’s hankering for Casey O’Gorman, both chose to couple up with the two singletons of the villa.
Let’s be honest – it was a total cop out.
Kaz Crossley and Luca Bish have been in a friendship couple near enough from the off.
While the former risked a five-year friendship with Elma Pazar by cracking on with her love interest Ronnie Vint, the other appeared totally uninterested in being back on the programme that made him famous.
Kaz’s desperation to couple up didn’t put off Ron however, as he made a beeline for her at the firepit.
Meanwhile, a rejection from Tina Stinnes sparked emotion from Celebrity MasterChef star Luca who cried about the difference being in the villa for a second time.
Despite a quick flirtation with Olivia Hawkins who he’d brutally friend-zoned at the start, Luca focused his efforts on Grace – and it paid off.
As a Love Island fan, a huge villa upset at a recoupling is as thrilling as watching your football team come from behind to win the game, I imagine.
I want arguments, disloyalty, shock and awe.
So imagine what great TV it could have been if Grace had gone with her, err.. heart and chosen Casey.
There would have undoubtedly been tears from Gabby and, I fear, ladies’ man Casey would have given into temptation while sharing a bed with Grace.
Ron has gone in saying he’s ready to play the game to get what he wants – but again, bottled it.
In my opinion, he should have coupled up with Elma to save her from the inevitable heartbreak she faces with Ronnie.
Yes, he rubbed Elma up the wrong way by insisting she overreacted to Ronnie’s kiss with Kaz and saying she was acting “wifed off” in week one.
But Elma and Ron could be the perfect match – if he was actually willing to stick to his guns and ruffle some feathers.
Ronnie, who had earlier got aggy about Ron bringing up his name to Elma during a chat, would have kicked OFF.
But instead, these savvy Islanders appear to be playing it way too safe.
As lovely as the stunning India Reynolds is, it was genius of Love Island bosses to reunite series two stars Scott Thomas andTina after nine years.
India was playing it incredibly safe by sticking with her pal Scott – but that’s not what Love Island is about.
So as much as it must feel empowering for the Islanders to come in a second or third time confident they know how to play the game – that’s not what makes good TV.
We need the Love Island producers back in charge to inject extra spice into the second series of All Stars and ultimately deliver must-watch viewing – or else, viewers will be turned off.
