Love Island’s Mitch Taylor breaks down saying ‘I wanted to kill myself’ after ‘false allegations’

TV star Mitchel Taylor says he “wanted to kill himself” after being faced with false allegations.

The former Love Island star, 28, last year found himself at the centre of claims that he had thrown cash at a homeless person and had made homophobic comments – which he denied. The Sheffield-born star was attending an event with his former co-star Zachariah Noble when a social media influencer made the claims about him.

Mitch had been branded “vile” following the allegations which saw him and Zach thrown out of an event in London. TikTok influencer Ashleigh Huish claimed that the two men were “bragging” about their status before being rejected by security. She claimed a homeless man had asked the pair for cash before they “threw the money at him”, she added that they were “incredibly homophobic”. Mitch had strongly denied the claims but stated he was the man Huish had been speaking about.

Now, he has spoken about the impact the allegations had on his mental health and revealed he wanted to take his own life. Speaking on a new podcast, holding back tears, Mitch said: “I’ll be honest, I wanted to kill myself.” Speaking on the Tom’s Talks podcast, Mitch continued: “I’ll be honest, I’ve never spoken about it. This time last year I got cancelled for a false accusation and I don’t want to sound like a bad person when I say this but I never took mental health seriously.

“It was always like ‘It’s there and I get it’ but until it happened to me, I felt I were bulletproof but around this time last year, an influencer just put a story on accusing me of something that wasn’t true and one of their friends who’s a big influencer also backed the story up.”

Mitch went on to claim that his former management team “turned their back on him” following the allegations. He continued: “I had no-one. Thankfully I’ve got my friends and a loving family.” He added that he lost “so much money” after a string of work fell through following the allegations.

“I couldn’t eat and I couldn’t sleep,” he emotionally said. He continued: “People were sending photos of my house, photos of my family saying ‘I’m going to kill you for the things you’ve said and the things you’ve done,’ which wasn’t true.” The star in a candid admission continued: “Mentally, I have never had the dark thoughts I’ve had until then and it absolutely crushed me. The thoughts I had, I wanted to kill myself, seriously, I thought ‘I can’t do it.'”

Mitch previously addressed the allegations including “throwing money at a homeless person”. Speaking on Instagram, he said: “That is completely false, I didn’t throw any money at a homeless person. It was a kind gesture to give a homeless person money and it has been twisted into an evil act and it’s not true. I was trying to do a kind gesture.”

He also refuted claims of being homophobic, explaining he told an influencer who was also in attendance: “I fancied you when you were straight.” Mitch commented: “I can come across as being homophobic I’m really bad with words sometimes I was just nervous to meet this person. I am a fan of them. I do apologise, it’s just sometimes when I’m in scenarios like that I can’t really get my words out correctly and I was just trying to be as respectful to that person as I could and I kind of got it completely wrong.”
