‘Love Island USA’ Abruptly Announces Yulissa Escobar Exit from Show
Yulissa Escobar will not be finding love on this season of “Love Island USA.”
The contestant was removed from the villa during the second episode of Season 7 and little detail was given about her exit.
Right when the islanders were waking up in the morning, series narrator Iain Stirling announced that Escobar was no longer on the show.
“Welcome back to ‘Love Island USA,'” he says in the episode. “Yulissa has left the villa.” It is unclear when Escobar exited the villa and if she was also edited out of the show.
Her abrupt departure comes after she received online backlash following resurfaced clips of her using racist language, including the N-word, while discussing past relationships on a podcast.
Peacock confirmed to TODAY.com that Escobar is no longer a part of the show. The reality star has yet to publicly comment on her departure.
On social media, “Love Island USA” fans weighed in with some saying they were happy to see Escobar go.
“‘Yulissa has left the villa.’ and we all cheered,” one person commented on a joint Instagram post that Escobar and “Love Island USA” shared of the 27-year-old showing off her personality on the program.
A third added, “Yall got rid of her QUICK! 😭😂.”
Someone else said, “being kicked off day 2 is crazyyyy.”
Meanwhile, other fans said they felt “robbed” for not getting the chance to vote her out.
“The fact that we didn’t even get the privilege to vote her off gets me mad but hey a win is a win 🤣 they really said y’all want her off you got it!,” one fan wrote.
“We didn’t EVEN get the satisfaction of voting her off LMAOO,” another added.
Escobar hails from Miami, Florida, and in a YouTube video that Peacock shared of the cast, she said that she was excited to be on the hit reality TV series after her previous relationship ended in heartbreak.
“I was in a nine year relationship. He left me. I’m glad he broke my heart because look at me here,” she said. “I want my man to nurture me.”
On the show, Escobar coupled up with 22-year-old Ace Green, even though he was already paired up with fellow contestant Chelley Bissainthe. This caused Chelley and Austin Shepard to couple up instead.
“I’m here to find my knight in shining armor. I want that movie kind of love,” Escobar said in her cast video on Instagram.
“I could be fire, so don’t play with fire because you might burned, baby,” she added. “I’m here to have fun, to meet friends and enjoy summer in Fiji. We’re in Fiji!”
