Love Island Australia host Sophie Monk reveals secret details about WILD new series and a shock twist
Sophie Monk has teased what’s in store for fans in the highly-anticipated new season of Love Island, promising it’s the most dramatic yet.
Speaking to Daily Mail Australia, Sophie, 44, said viewers can expect way more drama than previous seasons.
‘It’s the best season of anything I’ve ever seen before, which is a big call but it’s just so exciting,’ she declared.
‘Producers have really turned up the drama this year.’
From bombshells to shocking twists, Sophie said fans are in for a wild ride.
‘We threw a lot more at them this season, a lot more bombs and a lot more surprises,’ she said.
‘We want to make sure that their relationships evolve earlier rather than later and they don’t waste their time. It’s great TV – there’s some dramatic moments and there’s also a lot of gorgeous moments, but very funny as well.’
One of the biggest shake-ups is the introduction of ‘Hotel Amor,’ a Love Island first that promises to leave both contestants and viewers reeling.

In this twist, the Islanders are taken to a hotel for a night with new partners, completely out of the watchful eye of the cameras.
‘Instead of Casa Amor, we have Hotel Amor, and we put them in a hotel for one night with zero cameras and pair them in different partners,’ Sophie explained.
‘So that caused quite a bit of turmoil in there, and it’s very entertaining to watch.’
Even as the host, Sophie admitted she was often surprised by how contestants reacted to certain situations, making the experience all the more unpredictable.
‘All the time we do that,’ she shared.
‘Someone might react to something differently to the way you expect, but that’s what makes the show cool. You might see someone’s audition tape and you think “gosh they’re tough or they’re like, ‘I’m not a girl’s girl,’ and then it ends up the absolute opposite.’
In another twist, the new season will see the introduction of two ‘Love Island Gods’—international Islanders who are set to shake things up in the Villa.

‘We’ve got one from the US and one from France,’ Sophie shared.
‘It’s interesting because even though we speak the same language, we don’t in a way. The American girl, she’s awesome. She’s so confident and says exactly what she’s thinking. You just notice the difference between Aussies and the rest of the world.’
Adding to the excitement is a brand new rule that encourages the girls to ‘try before they buy’ – giving them a chance to share a first kiss with their match as soon as they step into the Villa.
‘We thought, why not?’ Sophie explained. ‘Usually at the beginning, they just step forward and whatever, and we were like, let’s spice it up. If they want to, they can go and try before you buy and have a kiss and see if there’s any chemistry there.’
Sophie herself has been glued to the drama, admitting she couldn’t stay away from the action even when filming wrapped
Sophie herself has been glued to the drama, admitting she couldn’t stay away from the action even when filming wrapped.
‘Honestly, I sit in there like I’m watching. I couldn’t pull myself away from it, like a viewer,’ she laughed.
‘That’s when you know it’s very good TV- if you’re that involved as well and can’t step away. Sometimes I’d go home at one o’clock in the morning after staying there watching everything go down.’
Despite all the twists and turns, Sophie is confident the show will still feature its fair share of love stories.
Yes, I think so. Every year we do have that,’ she said of whether fans could expect real connections.
‘Whether they last the distance, they do give it a shot. They’re together for years, break up or they’re still together. We’ve got lots of couples that are still together, so you will.’
