Love Is Blind’s Monica Danus Claims Ex Joey Leveille Is Dating Sara Carton, Despite Their Denial (I’m Sure They Are Together & I Think They Have Real Potential As A Duo)

Romantic reality competition shows can’t catch a break these days, as yet another couple who weren’t originally matched together has emerged, this time on Love Is Blind. Love Is Blind season 8 ended with only one of the original five couples—Taylor Haag and Daniel Hastings—still together. The rest of the couples the show followed either didn’t make it to their wedding days, or declined to get married at the altar.

Love Is Blind’s Sara Carton and her original match, Ben Mezzenga, and Monica Danús and her original match, Joey Leveille, both split up at the Love Is Blind altar. Rumors began to swirl after the reunion that Sara and Joey had begun dating, which Sara initially denied. Joey’s ex, Monica, begs to differ, telling Elite Daily that she’s “so sick of the lies. Just own up to it at this point.”

“I’ve lived my whole life keeping the peace all the time. There’s a time and place for that, but I’ve learned to use my voice when something feels off.”

Monica claims Sara initially confirmed that she was “seeing” Joey during a phone call in late February, but denied it publicly during an appearance on The Viall Files podcast on March 9. I have to say, as a viewer, I see potential for Joey and Sara, especially since they had some chemistry while still in the pods. I’m adamantly against cheating, but nobody was together when Sara and Joey started seeing each other. I do see how Monica would be hurt by all of this, especially since she considered Sara a friend.

Monica and Joey were a fan-favorite couple this season. With his self-proclaimed “golden retriever” energy, Joey managed to playfully win Monica over, even though some of her relatives had reservations. The couple even made it so far as to walk down the aisle together before Monica claimed she wanted to be 100% sure of the partner she chooses, so she declined to marry Joey.

Still, all seemed well. The split was amicable, but as they talked about their relationship at the reunion, Monica revealed that she didn’t feel love from Joey, and he wasn’t treating her as if he loved her. Joey blamed the disconnect on Monica’s family’s interference, but Monica kept it classy. Upon rewatching the season, Monica told the reunion audience that she saw that Joey didn’t have feelings for her. Monica also stated at the reunion that since the season had aired, she’d begun hearing rumors about Joey and his extracurricular activities.

In her interview with Elite Daily, Monica reflected on rewatching the season: “Watching it back forced me to see what I wasn’t seeing at the moment. I realized Joey never got emotionally deep with me. … Whenever I tried to get more intimate and more emotional, he didn’t match that. I knew it was a struggle at the moment, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt. … But in retrospect, I should have listened to my gut. Watching it back, I’m like, “Girl, come on. Push him more. Ask him more. He needs to give you more, and he’s not.”

After a podcast, Reality Receipts, reported that Joey and Sara had been spotted spending time together in Minneapolis, Sara went on Nick Viall’s podcast, The Viall Files, to deny the rumors. “To be clear, me and Joey are not dating,” she said, while also admitting that viewers didn’t know that there was a “love square” between she, Ben, Monica, and Joey.

“There was a love square between me, Monica, Ben and Joey. We were all talking to each other until the second to last day in the pods. Of course, naturally in that circumstance, you do connect with people. I feel like me and Joey did establish a really great friendship.”

While denying that they were currently an item, Sara left the door open for a future romance, saying, “We’re definitely not dating… I don’t know what the future will hold.” Seems like Sara wanted to get fans used to the idea of she and Joey together, a sort of soft launch for a public debut after all the drama died down. Monica told Elite Daily that Sara’s comments on The Viall Files were upsetting, accusing her of lying.

Monica Says Sara Confirmed They Are “Seeing Each Other”

Monica said that the rumors about Sara dating Joey were starting to become more frequent, so she reached out to her friend to see if she would admit it. Elite Daily reported that Monica said, “I texted Sara, ‘I’m hearing a lot of things about you and Joey. Is there anything you need to tell me?’ And she called me and said, ‘Nothing’s official, but we are seeing each other.’ She said they didn’t want to make anything official until any online hate dies down.”

Understandably, Monica feels betrayed by her friend, Sara. Monica dropped another bombshell when she told Elite Daily, “She told me this started a month ago, so that’s at least two months ago now. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was longer. When I was venting to her [Sara] about Joey and she was saying she had my back, she was actually with him.”

Joey has yet to comment publicly on his relationship with Sara, and other than her appearance on The Viall Files, Sara has yet to say anything further. Time will tell if Sara and Joey are actually dating, but if they are spotted together around town, fans will surely report on it. As for Monica, she said she’s grateful things ended the way they did, since she knows who Joey really is now. “Knowing who he truly is now, that’s so scary to think about. I would not have been happy. So I’m very thankful that things happened the way they did.”
