Does Jasmine Know About Gary’s Affair With Penelope?
The recent return of Jasmine has stirred up a lot of drama, especially around the issue of her blaming Andy for the collapse of her marriage. But let’s dig a bit deeper into this. While it’s clear she has a vendetta against Andy, why is she so quick to ignore Penelope’s role in the whole situation? Jasmine’s anger seems to be solely focused on Andy, and there’s a good reason for that. Even though she may not know everything about Penelope, she’s clearly not concerned. As far as Jasmine’s concerned, Penelope is a non-factor.
If we rewind to the earlier seasons, Penelope didn’t even enter the story until the very end of season 6, and even then, she didn’t know about Jasmine. The real kicker? Gary had been married to Jasmine long before he ever started messing around with Penelope. Penelope came in as another side chick while Jasmine was still in the picture, but Jasmine’s anger is still mostly aimed at Andy, who she sees as the person that destroyed her marriage.
Jasmine’s intense hatred for Andy overshadowed any potential anger towards Penelope, and that dynamic could’ve been interesting if Jasmine had been alive in season 9. Imagine these two scorned women, both wronged by Gary, having a chance to face off. Would Jasmine try to take down Penelope in the same way she tried to destroy Andy? Or would they bond over their shared pain and plot to bring Gary down together? That would have been a compelling storyline for sure. However, with Jasmine’s fate sealed, we’ll never get to see it unfold.
In the end, Penelope has just as much reason to hate Gary as Jasmine did. If she were to team up with Jasmine, the bitterness between the two could have made for an incredibly dramatic arc. But at the same time, it’s just as plausible that Penelope might side with Andy and take down Jasmine one last time. Can you imagine the tension there? Jasmine would likely use the fact that Andy knew she was married and still had an affair as her weapon against him, but it would’ve been a thrilling mess to watch.
Sadly, this is all just speculation. If the writers had explored this further, we might’ve gotten a powerful narrative, but the opportunity has passed. It’s a shame because there’s so much potential for these characters to collide in a fiery showdown, but we’ll never get to see that happen. What do you think? Would it have been wild if Jasmine and Penelope turned into enemies, or do you think they would have teamed up? Drop your thoughts in the comments!
