Big Brother’s Zach Cornell evicted in season 27 blindside as host Julie Chen Moonves hits him on head for ‘cocky’ error

In addition to the host, fans are also furious with the reality contestant after pointing out that his elimination was “completely preventable” had he chosen to use the secret power he was gifted.

The season 27 household attempted to once again target Keanu Soto; however, their plan backfired when he narrowly escaped elimination for the fourth week in a row.

This week, Vince Panaro, Zach Cornell, and controversial Houseguest Keanu were put up on the chopping block by the most recent Head of Household, Ava Pearl.

Vince and Zach have described each other as their “best friends” in the house – making the votes even more high-stakes.

While the nominees have changed each week following the Power of Veto meeting, this week’s winner, Katherine Woodman, chose not to use it.

This meant that Ava’s nominations remained the same, and the original trio had to compete in the Blockbuster competition on Thursday.

Keanu, who has been a target since the beginning of season 27, has proven himself to be a challenge beast and previously won multiple vetoes.

Just like in the weeks past, Keanu was able to win the Blockbuster challenge and dodge elimination yet again.

The “villain” played hard as the contestants made it clear he was once again the target for eviction this week.

During a block-building challenge, Keanu came out on top – leaving elimination between Vince and a devastated Zach.

It then came down to the vote – and each player struggled with making their decision as many of them were in an alliance with both Vince and Zach.

While the decision was not unanimous, it was Zach who was ultimately sent packing.

The move was even more devastating for Zach as his elimination was “completely preventable.”

Zach was gifted a secret power on Big Brother premiere night, where he could buy his safety from eviction for $10,000.

Using $10,000 from a prize he won earlier this season, Zach could use the cash to buy his immunity for the week at any time before the start of jury.

If he had used it this week, he would have lived to see another day.

However, he chose to keep it in his pocket as he assumed he was safe for the week.

His assumption was wrong, and after an 8-2 vote, a shocked and heartbroken Zach was sent packing.

Zach said an emotional goodbye to his fellow Housemates and then joined host Julie Chen-Moonves on stage for his post-elimination interview.

As soon as Zach sat down in the chair, Julie stoically ordered him to lean forward.

Confused by the order but still obeying what he was told, Zach seemed apprehensive but continued to lean towards the host.

Julie, 55, then hit Zach over the top of his head with her stack of cue cards.

“You had won a secret power of using the $10,000 prize you won on premiere night for your safety.

“Can you lean forward just a little bit?” Julie asked before playfully smacking Zach on top of the head and begged the question that everyone wants to know: “Why didn’t you use it?”

Zach, along with the live audience, erupted with laughter after Julie’s move, which was done in jest.

“I wasn’t expecting [to be evicted]. I was completely blindsided,” Zach confessed, and then explained that he thought he had the numbers on his side due to his allies.

Viewers agreed with Julie, and many were infuriated by Zach’s “preventable” elimination.

“Zach got way too cocky and didn’t use the tools he was given to make it to the end. That’s a shame,” one person commented.

“What a stupid move to assume you are safe in that house. Ego got the best of him but the lack of strategy this season is unbelievable,” another complained.

“C’mon Zach! My pick to win it all and going home was completely preventable! f**k!,” one more exclaimed.

Big Brother season 27 airs on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 8 pm EST on CBS.
