American Love Island bombshell Toni’s health battle which left her needing infusion

The Love Island UK villa is about to get a jolt of American flair with Toni Laites, a Las Vegas waitress, slated to make a dramatic entrance as the newest bombshell.

Before jetting off to the villa, Antonia, also known as Toni, confessed to grabbing the media’s attention years ago due to her battle with ulcerative colitis.

She recounted: “I have ulcerative colitis. I had to go to hospital the same week as my senior prom. They told me, ‘You can’t go,’ and then they said, ‘Surprise, you’re going to prom!'”.

She further shared, “Nothing that exciting happens in Connecticut, so it was a big deal and a few articles were written about me.”

Reminiscing about her notoriety back home, an article from the Hartford Courant chronicled her predicament – an emotional tale that guaranteed tearful reactions, reports the Daily Star.

According to the article, a sudden worsening of Toni’s condition meant that doctors at the attending hospital forbade her from leaving, needing an emergency infusion instead.

Crushed by this news, Toni’s beacon of hope was Dr. Victoria Grossi, who went behind the scenes to coordinate with the care staff, pondering whether Toni could sneak away from the hospital just long enough to experience prom.

Her mother, Leslie Ferreira, faced the additional hurdle of persuading the school since a rule stipulated students absent on prom day couldn’t participate.

A conversation with school officials thankfully swayed them, clinching Toni’s miraculous prom night attendance.

While Toni was prepping for prom with a blood transfusion, she accidentally stained her hand with a drop of blood.

Dr. Grossi reassured her by saying, “Oh, that’s alright, we’ll just wash that off before you go to prom tonight.”

Thinking her prom night was ruined, Toni couldn’t hold back tears until her mom showed up at 4pm with the dress and her stepsister Andrea along with another doctor rallied to do her makeup and hair amidst the transfusion.

Toni, adorned for prom, got a standing ovation from a dozen hospital staff as she strutted down the corridor.

Yet Toni knew she had to return to the hospital by 11pm, giving her a real-life Cinderella experience.

Now, she’s on Love Island UK, perhaps in search of another fairytale moment or her very own Prince Charming.
