Love Island’s Ekin-Su Culculoglu breaks silence on relationship with Married At First Sight star
Rumours began circulating that Love Island star Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Married At First Sight UK’s Georges Berthonneau were romantically linked after pictures emerged of them heading to the gym together in Essex. But in an exclusive chat with OK! Ekin-Su has revealed she is “single”.
It was alleged that on Wednesday (6 November), Ekin-Su, 30, and Georges, 31, entered the gym separately but drove there together in Georges’ car. Following the pictures obtained by The Sun, a representative for Georges said: “I was surprised by the article myself as Georges is happily dating someone not in the public eye. He and Ekin are just friends who happened to go to the same gym that day.” And as for Ekin-Su being on the dating scene, the former Dancing on Ice star told OK!: “I’m 100% single, I’m just living my best life.”
When it comes to ‘living life’, Ekin-Su also opened up about navigating life after Celebrity Big Brother and finding self-acceptance. With four million Instagram followers and a booming reality TV career, Ekin-Su released her debut book, Be Your Own Best Friend, earlier this year, which it touches on her journey towards loving herself – something she admits was hard in her younger years.
She explained her inspiration for writing the book at Harvey Nichols Edinburgh Step into Christmas event: “It was about addressing the struggles in my life – from the hard times, racist comments as a kid, and being overweight and feeling isolated made me become my own best friend. I had times where I was really low and didn’t want to be here, but I’ve learned to fight for myself. I kept looking in the mirror and thinking ‘I can be my best friend’, and I hope this book reaches someone going through something similar and show they can recover from it.”
And speaking of recovering from hard times, Ekin-Su saw herself at the centre of backlash during her stint in the Celebrity Big Brother house earlier this year – but she’s ready to leave that all in the past and focus on a positive future.
Ekin-Su explained: “I know I’m not perfect, I know I have flaws but I know when to stand up for myself.
“Life is short and we just need to let go of the worries and what other people think. The minute you stop worrying about opinions, that’s when you find actual peace. It can be hard. I hit rock bottom but it led me to understanding that people may have an opinion of me but they don’t know me. They just know a version of me.”
