“That was so tough”: Love Island airs first brutal dumping of the series
Kicking off on Monday night, this year’s Love Island has already seen plenty of twists and turns.
In last night’s episode Toni, the first bombshell of the season, entered the villa and immediately stole Ben from Shakira, who then faced being dumped from the island.
Tonight’s episode aired the first dumping of the season, with Sophie leaving the villa after Shakira chose to couple up with Harry.
After host Maya Jama arrived in the villa, she asked Shakira to stand with her at the fire pit in front of the group.
Maya told Shakira: “I gave you 24 hours to find a connection with one of the other boys or risk being dumped from the island tonight, but have you done enough?”
The host then asked if any of the boys wanted to recouple with Shakira, with Conor, Harry, and Blu all standing up, meaning Shakira was safe.
The project manager then had to choose which of the three boys to couple up with, knowing that would mean their partner would be dumped from the island.
Shakira struggled to make her decision, admitting to Maya that the boy she had best connection with was coupled up with a girl she considered a friend.
Maya reminded her that this is Love Island (not Friend Island) and what mattered was which boy she felt the strongest connection to.
Shakira agreed and announced she was picking Harry as he made her laugh and they have “really interesting banter with each other”.
Sadly that meant Sophie had to pack her bags and leave the villa, though the 29-year-old took it well and wished Harry the best in his quest for love. After the dumping, Shakira said: “That was so tough.”
Tomorrow night things are set to be shaken up even further as two male bombshells – Shea and Remell – enter the villa.
