‘9-1-1’ Renewed For Season 9 At ABC

'9-1-1'

ABC‘s procedural drama 9-1-1 has been renewed for a ninth season with an 18-episode order, sources tell Deadline.

The news of the show’s renewal isn’t surprising as the series remains a top linear and digital performer for the network and Hulu.

Created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Tim Minear, 9-1-1 follows the lives of Los Angeles first responders: police officers, paramedics, firefighters, and dispatchers.

The series stars Angela Bassett, Peter Krause, Oliver Stark, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Ryan Guzman, Aisha Hinds, Kenneth Choi, and Gavin McHugh.

9-1-1 originally premiered in 2018 on Fox, where it ran for six seasons before being canceled. The 20th Television show was rescued by Disney-owned ABC, which picked it up for a seventh season that premiered in 2024.

In its eighth season (its second on ABC), 9-1-1 continues to be a solid player for the network. The series ranks second in viewers and No. 1 in L+SD adults 18-49.

9-1-1 will be joined next season by its spinoff, 9-1-1: Nashville, which ABC ordered straight to series last month. Chris O’Donnell is set to star in the offshoot as Captain Don Sharpe, a rugged fire captain and rodeo rider who runs Nashville’s busiest firehouse with his beloved son. Don’s a devoted husband and family man, but he has his secrets.

Season 8 of 9-1-1 has seen the 118 deal with killer bees, Bassett’s Athena land an airplane on the 110 freeway in Downtown L.A., and Hewitt’s Maddie’s throat get slashed.
