In our exclusive with the series star, they shared insights about their characters’ evolution and what viewers can expect from the latest chapter of this acclaimed drama series. According to the network’s news release, this season is full of hills and valleys as Zac (Devale Ellis) and Fatima (Crystal Renee Hayslett) struggle to protect their relationship from damage caused by outside influences and we learn just how deep family trauma can go.
Here’s the official Season 3 synopsis: Tyler Perry’s “Zatima” follows popular “Sistas” characters Zac (Devale Ellis) and Fatima (Crystal Renee Hayslett) as they navigate the ups and downs of their relationship. Season three is full of peaks and valleys as Zac and Fatima struggle to protect their relationship from undue damage from outside influences. But when family is involved, it makes things a little more intense. We learn just how deep family trauma can go and the consequences of one’s actions when they don’t think before they act. Will Zac and Fatima survive this dark time? Will Zac and Jeremiah mend their relationship? Or will everyone give up and walk away?
Ellis and Hayslett lead the cast that includes Nzinga as “Angela”, Danielle as “Belinda,” Jasmin as “Deja” Guyviaud Joseph as “Tony,” Remington Hoffman as “Bryce,” Cameron Fuller as “Nathan” and Ameer as Jeremiah.
“Yeah, he’s on a further declivity into the abyss of just shame and madness,” Ameer said of Jeremiah. “He’s lost it. And so Zach…he’s after me. I’ve done some ill things regarding Fatima. The fans are going to hate me this season. That’s all I can say. They’re going to hate the character,” he shared.
“What I enjoyed about exploring Jeremiah, I am Jeremiah,” Ameer continued.
“I was telling Zach, I was on drugs at 14, 15, 16, 17, and I was an addict as a kid. So playing this character freed me and had me go back into my past and search out a lot of hurt and pain,” he shared.
“It’s ironic because like in real life, my dad and I, we both were addicted and my mother saw the trailer and she was traumatized reliving that. That trauma impacted me and impacted my mom. It’s going to impact a lot of people. It’s a real story. I’m so grateful to play this character.”
