I’m More Invested in This Off-Screen ‘Love Is Blind’ Season 8 Couple
Love Is Blindis anything but a typical dating experience for its contestants. Still, Meg Fink and Mason Horacek have had a particularly unique journey on Season 8 of Netflix’s reality dating show. From the moment they stepped into adjoining pods, Meg and Mason began developing a strong – and often quite adorable – connection, as they talked about aliens and conspiracy theories and bonded over sharing the same favorite movie, Her.
At times, it seemed like Meg and Mason were destined to be on the show together, but their connection was caught between overlapping love triangles alongside Madison Errchiello and Alex Brown. As both Meg and Mason left the pods single, I, along with many fans, thought we had seen the end of Meg and Mason’s story on Love Is Blind. But their brief return on Episode 11, titled “Sliding Down Slopes and Into DMs,” proved otherwise and left me with high hopes for their future.
Meg and Mason’s Time in the ‘Love Is Blind’ Pods Was… Complicated
Though Meg made it clear throughout the pod episodes that Mason was her strongest connection, things weren’t as straightforward for Mason. Alongside his feelings for Meg, Mason developed a connection with Madison, who, to make matters even more complicated, also had feelings for Alex. Love triangles aren’t exactly uncommon on Love Is Blind, and it was hard to blame Mason – or Madison, for that matter – for developing two strong connections in the pods. But, as is the case with every season, there comes a time when contestants have to choose, and that’s where Mason went wrong.
Mason juggled these two very different connections throughout the pod episodes – his conversations with Meg seemingly highlighting their compatibility at every turn and those with Madison often taking on a more flirtatious tone. While it seemed clear to me and other viewers which connection was stronger, Mason struggled to choose between Meg and Madison. It wasn’t until Madison told Mason that she felt more validated by Alex that Mason prematurely committed to her – a decision he later regretted, but it was already too late. Madison told Meg that Mason had committed to their relationship, despite the fact that Madison planned on breaking things off with him in favor of her connection with Alex. During their final date in the pods, Meg confronted Mason about his feelings for Madison, and he failed to reassure her that their connection was stronger. Meg then decided she’d rather leave the show single than be someone’s second choice, leaving me and other fans feeling proud of Meg for choosing herself first and somewhat disappointed that Mason had fumbled such a strong connection – or so it seemed.
Leaving the ‘Love Is Blind’ Pods Single May Have Been the Best Thing

Fast-forward to Episode 11, where Meg and Mason walked hand-in-hand into a cast reunion at a local bar, and I felt more excited seeing them together than I had while watching any of the engagements this season. The pair confirmed to their friends from the pods that they reconnected outside the show (and even staged their own Love Is Blind-style reveal) and that they’ve been casually dating ever since. I’d be lying if I said this wasn’t the best part of the cast reunion – Molly Rose Mullaney standing up for Lauren O’Brien despite their previous love triangle with Dave Bettenburg being a close second.
Despite their rocky start, Meg and Mason may have been better off not making it further on the show and could end up being the strongest couple to come out of Love Is Blind Season 8 because of it. When questioned by the rest of the cast about the status of their relationship, the pair giggled at each other and gleefully stated that they’re “hanging out.” Without the pressure of an expedited marriage brought on by being one of the engaged couples on the show, it’s more likely that they’ll be able to develop a healthy, lasting connection. And the fact that they both left the show but decided their connection was still worth pursuing proves that their relationship isn’t at all motivated by screen-time or fame – as we’ve often seen from Love Is Blind couples in the past. Based on their beaming smiles in Episode 11, Meg and Mason seem to be doing better as a couple not on the show. While this season has been lacking in compelling storylines and chemistry between couples, I’m now looking forward to the reunion and hoping for an update on Meg and Mason.
