‘Love Is Blind’ Season 8 Is Boring for One Surprisingly Simple Reason
Most couples seemed at ease with their connections, and love triangles reached amicable conclusions. In fact, this was probably the first season where there was no groundbreaking drama and partner-stealing during the cast parties. Things have been smooth sailing for the most part from a reality TV point of view. This just further strengthens the fact that the contestants this season were real people and not individuals who were seeking their five seconds of fame.
Conversations Were Mundane and Objective in ‘Love Is Blind’ Season 8
Love Is Blind is usually brimming with out-of-pocket and bizarre conversations, especially in the pods. Typically, there’s a hefty amount of trauma-dumping, sexual innuendos, and hinting at physical features, as well as raging sob fests. While Love Is Blind Season 8 was not void of these aspects, they were significantly less compared to previous seasons. The conversations were also more productive, with discussions on politics, finance, and beliefs. Contestants like Sara Carton and Virginia Miller asked their partners about their political stances and also had long-drawn discussions on their religious beliefs.
Most contestants also seemed hyper-aware of the shortcomings that had resulted in the demise of their past relationships. This level of personal growth and awareness made way for meaningful discussions. That’s not to say there wasn’t an odd cookie or two who’d display some toxic traits and red flags, like David Bettenburg or Madison Errichiello. But a majority of contestants this season were mature, which prevented the villain arches from thriving.
Love Triangles Reached Quick and Fair Conclusions
Love triangles on the popular Netflix dating show are usually the epicenter of drama and misunderstandings. Much like every other season, this one, too, had a fair share of love triangles for viewers to be invested in. However, the individuals caught up in the love triangles couldn’t have cared less to make a big deal about it. The love triangle with David, Lauren O’Brien, and Molly Rose and the one between Madison, Alex Brown, and Mason Horacek did have its ugly moments. But things didn’t go far enough for anyone to pull each other’s hair out like Jessica Batten Mcgrath and Amber Pike from Love Is Blind Season 1.
The Creators Can’t Satisfy Every Single Demographic
A massive chunk of reviews online suggests that Love Is Blind Season 8 is a snoozefest that’s too boring to watch. There were also minimal scandals about contestants and their past, with rumors being largely harmless. This is in contrast to previous contestants like Jeramey Lutinski and Tyler Francis, who had full-blown secret pasts and relationships that came to light while the show was airing. This season, even the relationships are pretty regular and relatable. Viewers seem to be up in arms over the fact that no spice, fights, and shady pasts are coming to light on Love Is Blind Season 8.
