‘Love Is Blind’ Season 8 Contestant Brittany Dodson Made the Right Move With Devin Buckley

Sparks were flying when basketball enthusiasts Brittany Dodson and Devin Buckley matched up in the pods on Love Is Blind Season 8. Things were going great between the duo, with their shared love of basketball and their matching vibes. However, cut to later in the season when the duo opened up about their pasts and showcased immense vulnerability. Brittany was immensely supportive when Devin shared details about a past injury and how that got him addicted to painkillers.

Subsequently, Brittany confessed that she’s had relationships with both sexes in the past but always saw herself settling down with a man. This revelation got Devin to pull back, causing an immediate energy shift. He expressed that it was a lot to take in and added that he needed to sleep on it. The next time the duo meet in the pods, Brittany swiftly ends things with him. Once out of the pods, Brittany shed light on how Devin’s immature reaction sparked concern about his views on the LGBTQ+ community.

The Duo Bonded Over Basketball but Recognized Their Incompatibility When They Dug Deeper

It was adorable to watch Devin and Brittany’s initial interactions, where they seemed to fit like two pieces of a puzzle talking about basketball and how their fathers shared the same name. The energy was bouncing off the walls, and they seemed to have been progressively having deeper conversations. Unfortunately, the duo seemed to have struck a nerve a little too soon, which eventually led to the end of their connection. However, Brittany had made notes of instances where she questioned if Devin was the one for her even before that.

In an exclusive interview with Today, she reflected on how it eventually dawned on her that Devin seemed like a bit of a mama’s boy. Brittany also felt like she was bending over backward to be understanding of some of the things that Devin had shared. The Partnership Executive confessed that she’s “not interested in holding someone’s hand” and wants to find a partner with whom she could grow. After a point, it became evident to her that, had she pursued a relationship with Devin, she’d end up having to carry the weight in their relationship.

Devin Buckley’s Hypocritical Response Was an Instant Turn-Off for Brittany Dodson

In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly, Brittany confessed how Devin’s response when she opened up about her sexuality was an instant turn-off for her. She felt that it was hypocritical of him to react the way he did right after she was supportive and understanding when he shared his past of being addicted to ibuprofen to cope with his basketball injury. Brittany shared that once she got out of the pods, she realized that ibuprofen addiction wasn’t as common as she thought it was when Devin told her about it in the pods.

She also believes that when she opened up about her sexuality and showcased her vulnerabilities, Devin immediately turned the narrative around and made the whole thing about himself. Instead of being supportive and comforting, there was a long moment of silence before he expressed that he needed time to “think” about her sexuality. Brittany firmly believes that the silence in the pods spoke volumes. She also noted that how one feels about a potential partner’s sexuality is their prerogative. However, Brittany stated that she can’t see herself ending up with someone who holds any rigidity or apprehension towards their perception of the LGBTQ+ community.

Devin Buckley’s Reaction Made Brittany Dodson Reflect on the Perception of Her Sexuality

Brittany felt that Devin’s reaction in the pods was a sign that he lacked humility and was also extremely set in his ways. Moreover, his reaction made her reflect on how her sexuality is perceived in society – especially by men in the dating pool. In an interview with Screen Rant, Brittany confessed that while she has encountered an odd situation or two when a man has expressed his apprehension to pursue a relationship with her owing to her sexual fluidity, she didn’t think it would be that big a deal.

Devin’s reaction in the pods was an eye-opener to Brittany about her sexuality being considered a much bigger deal than she had assumed it to be. At the end of the day, it’s good to know that Brittany knows exactly what she wants and isn’t willing to compromise her preferences or her identity over a man’s rigid views. It was definitely in her best interests to walk away from Devin when she did.

The first batch of Love Is Blind Season 8 episodes dropped on Netflix on February 14, 2025, with new batches of episodes rolling out every Friday. You can stream the episodes along with the show’s previous seasons exclusively on Netflix.
