Unrivaled Star Sheds Light on Caitlin Clark’s Absence as She Claims Angel Reese Will “Crash the Boards”
Lexie Hull has never been afraid to make a statement on or off the court. Dominating on the court, and taking on new roles off it, Hull has fast become one to watch, especially after game-changing performances in Unrivaled, a new partnership with Athleta, and the influence of teammates like Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark on her competitive edge.
Hull came into conversation with Women’s Fastbreak on SI to discuss her exciting partnership with Athleta. She shared her thoughts on Unrivaled and the impact of playing alongside standout teammates like Angel Reese. “She’s gonna crash the boards, and she’s not gonna stop,” Hull pointed, reflecting on Reese’s unmatched tenacity.
“I think just taking a piece out of that playbook of being unruly and competitive like her has been really valuable,” Hull added, elaborating on the lessons she’s learned from Reese’s all-out hustle. “Every time I’ve stepped on the court, my focus is trying to have a positive impact,” Hull said simply, showcasing her versatile approach to the game.
Lexie Hull’s Unrivaled insights and Fever ambitions
As the Unrivaled 3×3 women’s basketball league got underway in Miami, one big question was whether Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark would be joining the fray. Given her superstardom and the following she boasts, it made some sense that Unrivaled wanted her to suit up.
However, after a whirlwind year split between college and WNBA seasons, Clark decided to take a well-deserved break this offseason to focus on her training for the Fever’s 2025 season. Even though fans will not see her competing at Unrivaled this time, Clark hasn’t checked out altogether.
Talking about how her Fever teammate is staying connected to the league, Lexie said, “Yeah! We’ve talked a bunch, and she’s definitely excited about the league and has tuned in to several games,” Hull said, offering a glimpse into Clark’s ongoing involvement from the sidelines.
Though Clark isn’t playing, Hull told fans she’s still fully on board with supporting her teammates and the league. “She’s definitely rooting for her friends,” Hull added. “It’s great having her support during the offseason.”
While fans wait for her return, there’s always a chance that Clark will end up stepping onto the Unrivaled court in 2026. For now, though, she’s enjoying some downtime and cheering her crew on from afar.
Hull’s partnership with Athleta and its impact
The Unrivaled star recently partnered with Athleta under the ‘Power of She Collective’. “Athleta is a brand by women, for women,” Hull said while speaking about the mission behind the brand. “I am super excited to be a part of the Power of She Collective.“
“It’s not just about taking pictures and being done. Being able to show up and engage with young girls is something I’m really passionate about,” Hull explained. It’s clear that this partnership isn’t just another promotional gig—it’s about having a lasting, meaningful impact on the next generation of athletes.
While Unrivaled is helping elevate Hull’s visibility, toward a greater level of prominence, the relationship is also taking root between those players, including herself and Caitlin Clark. Though CC spent the offseason sitting on the bench, she kept herself involved on the sidelines. “She’s definitely tuned in and rooting for her friends and teammates,” Lexie said with confidence.
Alongside Hull, Kate Martin has also been embraced by Athleta as part of the ‘Power of She Collective’. Lexie Hull expressed her excitement about working with Martin, whom she has known through Caitlin Clark. “I’m so excited that they’ve chosen Kate as someone I get to do a lot of things with,” Hull shared. “I think both of us are excited about being a positive change for women’s sports and having a brand like Athleta behind us to help drive that.”
With Unrivaled continuing to shine a spotlight on women’s basketball and Athleta empowering female athletes, Lexie Hull finds herself at the center of two transformative movements. Whether she’s competing on the court, advocating for young girls in sports, or learning from her teammates, Hull’s journey is a testament to the growing opportunities for women in athletics. As she balances her Fever ambitions, Unrivaled performances, and brand partnerships, one thing is clear—she’s just getting started.
