Tyler Perry’s Zatima | Episode 16 Crushed My Spirit: I Might Skip The Rest of Season 3

Zatima fans, I just finished watching episode 16. I’m kind of at a breaking point here. I know some of you are going to be mad at me, but I’m honestly considering sitting out the rest of this season. There are only four episodes left, but after watching episode 16, it just completely deflated me. I know what some of you are thinking—how can I drop Zatima but keep watching Sistas when it’s a worse show? Well, for one, I look at the algorithm, and I can’t afford to not cover Zatima. But Sistas? That’s my bread and butter, even though recently my House of Payne content has been my top-performing videos.

Let me break it down. I’ve got 14 Zatima-related videos I recorded last week that I haven’t had a chance to edit and post yet, and they can’t go to waste. Some of them are still valid, so I’ll post those and do my episode 15 and 16 reviews as promised. But to sum it up, yesterday I had a dentist appointment that pretty much wiped me out, and then I was running errands. I had to cancel some maintenance work because the technician’s son was sick. So I took a nap and then, while I was doing some dishes, I watched the infamous bathroom scene from episode 16 that so many people told me I had to see.

In that scene, Fatima goes upstairs to check on Zach after he comes out of the shower. She’s rubbing her foot, and there’s no real eye contact. Then, they start talking, and it feels like Fatima was almost going to leave him in jail another night. She avoids the real conversation they need to have, and they end up in the bathroom because there’s no door to the bedroom. Zach follows her in, and after some awkwardness, he tries to talk to her about the situation.

What gets me, though, is Zach’s sudden change of heart. Last episode, he was so angry and conflicted, and now in episode 16, he’s basically saying, “You were right, Fatima, and I was wrong.” This completely contradicts what we saw in the previous episodes. I mean, wasn’t there a photo floating around with Tony and Zach in the barber shop? I thought that could’ve been a key scene, but it seems to have been cut. I’m trying to figure out where this shift in Zach’s attitude came from, and I just can’t make sense of it. This episode skipped so many steps to suddenly jump to Zach being like, “I’m going to stand by Fatima no matter what.” Where did this development come from?

To make matters worse, there was a moment in episode 15 where Zach and Nate have a conversation with Connie and Tony about how Fatima handled the situation. But none of that felt like it added any context to what happened in episode 16. It felt like the episode was rushed, cutting out crucial scenes to focus on the drama with Angela’s sex video. I get that Sistas has its drama, but this episode didn’t give me the depth I expected. I honestly feel like I’ve been cheated out of seeing Zach’s emotional development.

And to top it off, this whole change of heart for Zach came out of nowhere. If we were building up to it slowly, I’d get it, but no—suddenly he’s apologizing and saying he’ll stick by Fatima, and it makes no sense. There’s no clear reasoning behind it.

I’m really torn here. I know it’s only four more episodes, but I don’t know if I can keep going. It’s like watching She-Hulk on Disney+—it wasn’t the worst show, but the finale completely shattered the whole season, and everything before that felt pointless. That’s how I felt watching episode 16. I just don’t understand the writing or the decision-making behind this episode.

I’m not blaming the cast—they’re doing their best. But this is on the writers and editors. If I decide to skip out on the last episodes of the season, I’m sorry to the cast, but I just can’t deal with this kind of writing anymore. Let me know what you think—would you be upset if I decided to skip the rest of the season?
