Love Island Australia winners Tyra Johannes and Kale Roberts reveal exciting future plans after one year anniversary
In an interview with 9Entertainment, Tyra shared what the couple, who now live together on the Gold Coast, have planned for the months ahead – and it includes a very cute new family member.
“We’re getting a dog! No one knows this yet, but we’re getting a little puppy in a month so that’ll be really fun,” she shared.
Tyra laughed as she revealed they were getting a “typical Gold Coast dog”, a toy cavoodle.
“I’ve never trained a puppy before so I need to get my research on. I’ve got four weeks to get my s–t together,” she said.
They also have lots of other “fun, fun times ahead”, including a trip to an American country musical festival in the New Year, where they will catch up with fellow Islander Andy Cosgrove.
Tyra shared how the pair marked their anniversary in September 2024, one year after coupling up in the Love Island villa.
“Kale actually had a big weekend, he came from a buck’s weekend so he was a bit dusty for the one-year,” she joked. “But we had a really cute day. We went out for dinner, had some red wine, it was really nice.”
Following their Love Island experience, Tyra said she’s had a “massive year of learning”, both personally and professionally.
Since the show, Tyra, who has recently been named brand ambassador for NIVEA, has also moved homes – from the Sunshine Coast to the Gold Coast – and made a major career change.
“It has been crazy, a whole year is absolutely insane to me,” she reflected.
“A year ago, I was working 9-5 in procurement and accounts and now I’m navigating this whole influencer scene and social media world,” she explained.
As part of that, she and Kale have a relationship with a lot of fan investment – but thankfully their yin and yang personalities have made that easier to navigate.
“I’m someone who gives into a lot of pressure, and I care about what people think and that sort of thing, but Kale is the complete opposite to me,” she shared.
“So, it’s really good that he can bring me back down and ground me when it comes to all of that outside pressure.”
With another season of Love Island Australia arriving later this year, Tyra cannot wait to be a viewer once again – and hopes her incredible experience on the series can help new Islanders.
“The girls in the season before me, Phoebe, Tina and Claudia, they’ve been my big sisters going through this whole new world themselves. So I really do hope that the next lot of Islanders feel the same way about me.”
Tyra was recently announced as an official brand ambassador for NIVEA, a role she’s over the moon to come onboard with after using the brand for “as long as I can remember.”
“Nivea has been a constant brand in my life for as long as I can remember and to be the face for their Micellar products is such a ‘pinch me’ moment,” she said.
“The new Micellar range is amazing and I can’t wait to share more with you guys over the coming months.”
