‘9-1-1’ Star Oliver Stark Speaks Out on Instagram as the Show Reveals a Major Update
Heads up 9-1-1 fans: your favorite TV show isn’t going anywhere.
The hit procedural drama is wrapping up airing new episodes of season 8, and fans have been wondering if 9-1-1 will also come back for an all-new installment later this year. Well, the wait is officially over, because ABC (the channel 9-1-1 airs on) decided to share news that 9-1-1 fans will be thrilled to learn about.
Posting a video on Instagram on April 3, 9-1-1‘s social team revealed the show got renewed for season 9 in the fall of 2025. If that wasn’t enough, it caused actor Oliver Stark (who plays Evan “Buck” Buckley) to react to the big announcement in his own way. As he shared a behind-the-scenes Instagram photo of him on set (taken by his co-star Peter Krause), Oliver expressed his gratitude about 9-1-1 coming back for another go-around.
“Season 9 Renewal,” he excitedly wrote in the caption. “Smiles all around 🚨 @911onabc. 📸: Peter Krause.”
Given how Oliver has been on 9-1-1 since the beginning, seeing his heartfelt note about coming back for season 9 caused a frenzy among his fanbase online.
“Best news I’ve heard in a long time!” on person exclaimed in the comments. “Congratulations to my favorite show!! Can’t wait to see what’s in store! 🙌🔥,” another declared. “S9 BUCK WE’RE SOOO BAACKKK,” a different follower added.
Now this is an announcement we’ve all been waiting for! But let’s not forget — we still have the rest of season 8 to watch before we can see what the 118 has in store for season 9.
As for what fans can expect from the last few episodes of 9-1-1 season 8, the April 17 installment is sure to get viewers’ hearts pumping. A press release reveals the episode (titled “Lab Rats”) will see Buck and Athena Grant Nash (Angela Bassett) racing to get the rest of the 118 to safety after the team gets trapped in a fire contained in a hazardous bio lab.
