9-1-1: Lone Star Showrunner Previews Tommy’s Season 5 Story After Episode 2’s Proposal

9-1-1: Lone Star showrunner Rashad Raisani has previewed what’s next for Tommy and her story during season 5 following her episode 2 proposal. Within the chaotic tension of the final episodes’ newest missions, 9-1-1: Lone Star season 5 found time for Tommy (Gina Torres) to propose to her boyfriend, Trevor (D.B. Woodside). While he says yes, he warned his ex-wife would need to approve of them, otherwise she could gain custody of Trevor’s daughter. This leads Tommy to say she doesn’t want her daughters interrogated to determine her worth as a mother, but still wants the pair to get married.

Speaking with TVLine, Raisani explained how Tommy proposing to Trevor makes 9-1-1: Lone Star season 5, episode 2 the couple’s “Casablanca episode. He teases the pair’s story will be wonderful in the next episodes to come. The showrunner also praised Torres for her performance, hinting at her role in episodes 3 and 4, while also confirming an even larger storyline in episode 6. Check out what Raisani had to say below:

This is Tommy’s Casablanca episode, and she is Humphrey Bogart…there are definitely some twists and turns to come [in her] beautiful story.

Gina Torres is a Ferrari. Her talent is immense, and this season we just went all in on letting her go. She really takes the ball in Episodes 3 and 4, and then we have an even bigger storyline for her that starts to kick off in Episode 6. That will be her character-defining arc for this season — and perhaps the series. Many big things are coming for her character this season.

Given the way Raisani describes Tommy’s story moving forward as ” beautiful ,” it seems like her and Trevor are destined for a positive ending, even if there are bumps in the road along the way.

Tommy and Trevor first met in season 4, when frogs were raining down in their city, a particularly harrowing mission for the team. Since then, however, the couple have held a strong relationship with one another, something that determined they would be with each other by the time the final episodes arrived. With the 9-1-1: Lone Star season 4 finale already showcasing a wedding between T.K. (Ronen Rubinstein) and Carlos (Rafael L. Silva), season 5 could mirror the same with the couple, even after their upcoming struggles to ensure their happiness.

Given the way Raisani describes Tommy’s story moving forward as “beautiful,” it seems like her and Trevor are destined for a positive ending, even if there are bumps in the road along the way. Having joined the cast of 9-1-1: Lone Star in season 2, it only makes sense for Torres’ character to earn a happy ending, following all she’s been through with the team that’s become like her family. However, with episode 6 set to deliver a surprise for her storyline, there could be even bigger complications than just her boyfriend’s ex-wife she’ll have to worry about.
