10 Disturbing 9-1-1 Moments Fans Can’t Watch More Than Once

9-1-1 has shocked viewers with its intense twists and turns since it first premiered back in 2018. Complete with a team of alluring firefighters, the 118 crew have experienced their fair share of intense events, all of which add to the audience’s entertainment. Thus, this vibrant and diverse firefighter drama has managed to keep fans hooked for years.

Ryan Murphy also adds a touch of hysteria to this show, which is similar to a lot of his other work. Thus, fans get to enjoy a whirlwind of drama and surprise, particularly when it comes to some of the cases. But some of these cases are so intense that fans can only bear to watch them once.

A Man Gets an Unwanted Surprise From His Sushi

Season 1, Episode 7, “Full Moon (Creepy AF)”

Although we are all aware of the risks that come from eating too much raw fish, most people roll their eyes and continue to dive into their latest batch of sushi. But after watching Connor contract a tapeworm from eating too much raw sushi, fans can’t look at this episode the same way. In “Full Moon (Creepy AF),” Connor seems to be having issues going to the toilet and complains that he can feel something inside of him. His boyfriend just shrugs it off as constipation.

But as soon as the audience spots the tapeworm crawling out of him while in the back of the truck, the real issue becomes apparent. The visual elements within this scene just make the entire situation much more revolting, yet in some cases, it’s hard to look away. As such, this is a great example of how 9-1-1 continues to drum up tension, even when it’s not handling life-or-death situations.

Chimney Has a Close Shave With Death

Season 1, Episode 3, “Next of Kin”

Chimney is one of 9-1-1’s best assets, and most audiences view him as their favorite character. So, whenever he gets hurt or stuck in a compromising situation, fans often remain on the edge of their seats. But, in “Next of Kin,” Chimney has a nasty accident with a steel rod.

After a verbal argument with Bobby, Chimney decides to let off some steam. Suddenly, his vehicle crashed into a barrier and was then rear-ended by a truck that was loaded with steel bars. As such, one of these bars impaled Chimney straight in the middle of his forehead. Though fans were grateful that he survived, there’s no denying that watching Chimney stare off into the distance with a steel pole hanging out of his head was quite stomach-churning.

A Yoga Teacher Loses Her Vision

Season 4, Episode 3, “Future Tense”

“Future Tense” centers around a fictional smart home device called Hildy. When the system begins to malfunction, the 118 crew is called to solve a whole hoard of confusing events. During one of their visits, they meet a yoga teacher who suddenly loses her vision. Yet, when Hen checks all of her vital signs, it seems that she couldn’t be in better shape.

Whilst talking to her, Eddie notices a small worm crawling around her eye. The teacher later confesses that she’s been doing yoga with goats, so it’s likely that a bug laid eggs in her eyes. There’s something so distressing about watching Eddie and Hen remove these worms so carefully and the relentless fear that is painted on the teacher’s face.

Eddie’s Secret Fight Club Takes a Turn for the Worse

Season 3, Episode 8, “Malfunction”

Eddie Diaz is quite a loveable character, so it was a bit of a shock watching him tear another guy up during a cage fight. After landing a few knockout punches, Diaz notices that his opponent is not breathing properly. Since this is an illegal fight, the owner refuses to call the emergency services, so Eddie is forced to deal with this problem on his own. As such, he puts his fingers into the man’s mouth and pulls a chunk of his nose that had slipped down the back of his throat during the fight.

Even after Eddie frees the man’s airway, the opponent is still at death’s door. Fortunately, Eddie finally calls 911, and the man is transported to another hospital for more treatment. Overall, this episode is particularly distressing because it shines a spotlight on the dangers of illegal fighting and how much damage it can do to a person.

A Mechanic Has an Awkward Encounter With an Air Compressor

Season 2, Episode 1, “Under Pressure”

At Hector’s Rim & Tire Shop, the owner is struggling to remain civil with a customer who continues to leave negative Yelp reviews on his website. During his argument, he trips over an exhaust component and ends up falling on an air compressor that lands on his buttocks. Thus, a huge gust of pressured air is released into his rear end, causing him to shoot across the room.

Aside from the initial shock, audiences find this moment hard to watch because of the second-hand embarrassment. It’s evident that Hector is a very proud man and resents his staff for alerting the authorities about his little accident. Not to mention, it must hurt having tons of compressed air blown into your behind.

A High-End Hair Salon Is Met With an Unexpected Guest

Season 5, Episode 18, “Starting Over”

For some people, hair salons are the epitome of luxury. Yet, in “Starting Over,” the team comes across a ton of tiny critters that cause a woman to lose her mind. After having a set of hair extensions fitted, she complains that her scalp is incredibly painful. When Bobby and Hen peel back her hair to get a closer look at her scalp, they come face-to-face with a plethora of crawling maggots.

On first impressions, audiences believe that this lady is blowing this out of proportion. She comes across as quite high-maintenance and dramatic, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if she was stretching the truth a little. But as soon as viewers spot the hoard of maggots making themselves comfortable in her hair, they realize that she was right to kick up a fuss.

Abby and Buck’s First Date Goes Terribly Wrong

Season 1, Episode 6, “Heartbreaker”

Evan Buckley is well-known for being a bit of a dreamboat so it comes as no surprise that he was able to sweep Abby off of her feet during their romantic dinner date. Yet, when he starts to choke on a piece of bread and ends up collapsing, Abby has to think fast in order to save her date’s life. While receiving instructions from another 911 operator, Abby conducts a makeshift tracheostomy on Buck.

Though Abby is very calm and collected during her working life, watching her slice Buck’s throat open with a standard dinner knife is so unnerving. Fortunately, she brings her date back to life, and they reconvene later for coffee. Yet, Abby’s bravery in this episode makes this distressing scene a little more manageable.

An Obscure Eating Contest Leaves a Man in Extreme Pain

Season 2, Episode 6, “Dosed”

“Dosed” is packed full of distressing and disgusting moments, but one scene stands out in particular. The team arrives at an eating competition, but the contestants are not indulging in countless burgers or hot dogs; they’re scoffing down insects. One contestant collapses after eating one too many crickets and suffers a major blockage.

But, these bugs are removed with a simple vacuum. Instead, they zoom out of the patient’s throat, producing one of the most sickening scenes in television history. It also doesn’t help that the entire 118 crew is high as a kite after accidentally eating LSD brownies. Although this episode has its funnier moments, a lot of fans believe that the episode takes it too far with its disgusting scenes.

Plastic Surgeons Leave Their Patient Worse for Wear

Season 2, Episode 11, “New Beginnings”

“New Beginnings” starts off with a bang and introduces fans to a lady waiting to have plastic surgery on her face. During the procedure, a gas leak occurs and causes all the surgeons to pass out. So, when the 118 crew arrives, they receive the shock of their lives when the lady’s face simply slides off.

Tensions are already very high during this episode, and watching a poor lady struggle to keep her face in place just adds to the anxiety. The special effects department should also be praised for their work because, although this episode is utterly revolting, the team did a fantastic job of making it look realistic. Overall, the audience is forced to simmer in a pit of sadness and disgust as they watch this poor woman suffer

A Man Sneezes Just a Bit Too Hard

Season 8, Episode 6, “Confessions”

9-1-1 has some pretty grizzly moments, but a scene from the latest season sits at the top spot on this list. In “Confessions,” the audience meets a man going through a pretty rough divorce. To add insult to injury, he just can’t stop sneezing. But, at the last moment, he prepares for a giant sneeze, and instead of releasing a plethora of germs, he actually releases his intestines.
